During these first years, children develop a strong foundation for lifelong, independent, self-directed learning, strong language skills, and social skill development.
K3 - 5 Day 8:00 - 11:00 (age 3 by 9/1)
This program is designed for children who are at least htree years old. Development in the following areas is emphasized to the level that is age appropriate for the child: gross and fine motor development, receptive and expressibe language, cognitive decelopment, vocabulary building, social skills, and work habits.
K4 - 5 Day 8:00 - 2:30 (age 4 by 9/1)
Pre-reading skills and concepts using a Balanced Literacy approach which lays the foundation for success in reading, writing, and language arts. Hands-on activiteis teach phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and word study. Bible, art, science, and social studies activities are integrated into our Balanced Literacy program to provide additional learning experiences and reinforcement. Math incorporates familiar objects and materials to relate patterns, numeral recogntion, counting and measuring to God's world.
Kindergarten (Age 5 by 9/1), Leap (8:00 - 2:30), and 1st Grade (8:00 - 3:00)
- Language Arts - A Balanced Literacy approach is implemented in all grades and includes instruction in 7 areas: Reading Aloud, Shared Reading, Guided Reading, Independent Reading, Modeled/Shared Writing, Interactive Writing, and Independent Writing. Phonemic awareness, phonics, word study, fluency, vocabulary and text comprehension are integrated within these areas.
- Math - Problem-solving approach with hands-on activities are integrated with the math curriculum to develop concepts and fundamental skills.
- Science - God's exciting world and creation is explored with multisensory learning opportunities.
- Social Studies - A study of the community, the environment and the relationship between the past and present helps students develop the understanding needed to become productive citizens.
- Bible - Each grade's Bible curriculum is a blend of creative Bible teaching with relevant life application. Students attend chapel three times a week to engage in worship together including singing, focused prayer time and student-led presentations.
- Technology - Each classroom is equipped with current technology for classroom presentations. Weekly classes are taught in a lab setting for student exploration and skill development, and two iPad carts are available for the classroom.
- Spanish - Students are instructed in the basics of the Spanish language and culture through reading and storytelling.
- Physical Education - Developing life-long healthy habits of exercise and nutrition is the program's goal.
- Music - In the music classroom, students are exposed to the different elements of music including rythmic and melodic reading and writing, form, inner hearing and artistic expression. In addition to the musical literacy and quality performance, it is the goal of the lower-school music program for children to love music. We are striving to bring glory to God as we develop and share the musical gifts He has given us.
